The Wyeth Brothers were not Sunshine Soldiers

John Trumbull painting of the Battle of Bunker Hill, Public Domain
250 years ago, on 17 Jun 1775, 16-year-old Joshua Wyeth spent a sweltering summer day fighting at the Battle of Bunker Hill. When he was only 15, Joshua threw tea into Boston Harbor on the freezing winter night of 16 Dec 1773.  At age 17, Joshua enlisted in the Continental Army with his two older brothers, Ebenezer and Jonas.  Suffering through crushing defeats in New York and losing New York City to British troops, Continental Army soldiers deserted by the thousands.  But the three Wyeth brothers were not sunshine soldiers. They believed the American cause was just and continued military service long after their Army enlistment contracts ended.
